1850-O 1 Dollar. NGC AU55. While "crusty" might seem to be a negative moniker for the appearance of anything, the opposite is actually the case with this dollar. As a testament of originality, this "crusty" dollar shows an attractive olive-brown patina with multicolored iridescense near the rims. Also, many of the intricate devices have for lack of a better term "accumulation" inside. That said, it is well documented that the O-mint Seated dollar mintage was and the survival rate is limited to say the least. In fact, the 1850 ranks as the rarest of all New Orleans Mint dollars and is rarely encountered in any condition, let alone About Uncirculated. All considered, this marks an impeccable opportunity for the collector.
