St. Helena The Boer War The Scandinavian Corps 1900 (date unclear) and 1901 (27 Nov.) envelopes ex the same correspondence from Denmark with each franked at 20ö, the first "via London" with Type 1 cachet, the second to "Longwood Gate" with triangular-framed "passed by censor/deadwood" Type 3 cachet, both in violet and uninitialled. Photo Estimate £ 600-800 Note: A small group of Danes, Finns, Norwegians and Swedes formed the Scandinavian Corps in the Transvaal. During the battle of Magersfontein most were either killed or wounded. On 27 February 1900 General Cronjé and his troops, together with 49 Scandinavian Corps members surrendered at Paarderberg.
