Pre-Stamp Essays 1839 Treasury Competition Essays George van Sommer: Pink letter wrapper bearing three circular designs in blue, two feature crown surmounted by lion standing to the right surrounded by national emblem flora design, the other with Royal coat of arms with small shield in centre and motto. The letter sheet is closed with two black wax seals, one tying the right hand label and the front shows the Treasury registration number "19962/39".
