Afghanistan First Anglo-Afghan War 1838-1842 1842 (14 Oct.) entire letter ex the Riddell correspondence (letter 108) from Captain William Riddell at Teysin to his wife at Indore, on reverse a light strike of the rare negative "afighanistan/bearing" marking with the date and "10as" inserted by hand and boxed "ferozepor/bearing" with "26 Oct. 42" and "5as." inserted by hand; fine. Interesting contents including "We left Cabool as expected on Wednesday morning, halted that day at Boodkhak, came yesterday to Khoord Cabool and this morning to Tezeen without seeing an Afghan or having a shot fired at us".
