Nigeria World War I - 1914-18 Military Mail 1915 (31 July) envelope from Captain A.H.L. Marwood of the Nigeria Regiment to Winchester, marked "On Active Service", bearing 1914 1d. tied by "udi/southern nigeria" double-ring d.s. and showing another clear strike on face with, on reverse, Onitsha transit d.s. (4.8). Very scarce. Photo Estimate £ 200-250 Note: The first coalmine in Nigeria was opened at Udi in 1915. At that time, there was much unrest in Nigeria, particularly in the Opobo district, hence the notation "On Active Service".
