Photo Estimate £ 300-400 Note: The Aro Expeditionary Force operated from 15 November 1901 to 23 March 1902 under Colonel Montonaro of the Gold Coast Ashanti 1900 Expedition Force. The Aro tribe, a dominant part of the great Ibo nation, held paramount power over a large area between the Niger and Cross rivers. They were under the spell of an evil juju and rebelled against British power. After many months of guerrilla fighting, the Frontier Force defeated and disarmed the tribe and brought Government control to all of their territory.
