Naval Mail 1898 sailor´s envelope to Portsmouth and redirected to Sheerness, headed "From W. Tolhurst Ldg Stkr HMS Heron Niger River W.C. of Africa", countersigned by Commanding Officer, bearing Niger Coast Protectorate 1894 1d. tied by "paid/liverpool/br. packet" c.d.s. (31.8) in black and showing Chatham datestamp alongside; the envelope with some minor peripheral faults. A fine example of the sailor´s 1d. concessionary rate.
