x The "cancelled" Obliterator In August 1861 the printer, Perkins, Bacon & Co., provided six examples of each stamp in their possession to Ormond Hill (eldest son of Rowland Hill) for members of his family. These fascinating stamps and the story behind their appearance, have been fully described by Peter Jaffé in his book "cancelled" by Perkins Bacon. 6d. imperforate plate proof in dull brown on unwatermarked paper, close to large margins, neatly cancelled by part strike of "cancelled" obliterator at upper left; small gum thin mention only for accuracy.
