Antarctica The property of other owners 1904 (20 Aug.) hand-written letter, on Marlborough Barracks, Dublin headed notepaper, from Oates to his sister Violet, advising her "you must not be disappointed if I cannot get this horse and I only wrote because I thought if you did want a horse it would be a pity to miss this chance." and signed "L E G Oates". An interesting autographed letter seldom seen. Also small piece bearing the family coat of arms. Photo Estimate £ 350-400 Note: L.E.G. (Titus) Oates was born 17th March, 1880. He was a member of Captain R. F. Scott´s fatal 1910-13 expedition to the South Pole and died on 16th March 1912 on the Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica
