Great Britain 1840 Mulready One Penny Envelopes A162, addressed to Maida Hill, with black Maltese Cross cancellation and, on reverse, red datestamp of 1840 (31 Aug.) (the first day of the introduction of the experimental black Maltese Cross cancellation), which opens well for display, with "T.P./Chief Office" handstamp on reverse, seal removed and some staining on the face; fine.
