Great Britain Postal History Postal Notices 1784 (21 Aug.) General Post Office notice informing of increased rates of postage of an addition 1d. for single sheets under 150 miles and an additional 2d. for letter in excess of 150 miles. Further information regarding free letter for members of either house of parliament and that any person attempting to defraud the post office "... fhall be deemed guilty of Felony, and fhall be transported for feven Years."
