Forte.), nearly extremely fine (2) Estimate £ 700-900 184131 Leading Seaman George Exton Wood, born July 1878; enlisted in the Royal Navy, July 1896; served during the Boer War in H.M.S. Forte, October 1899 to June 1900; served in the Gambia during operations under Lieutenant Colonel H.E.J. Brake, C.B., D.S.O., and present at the action at Dumbutu, 11.1.1901; discharged July 1908, and joined Royal Fleet Reserve; served during the Great War at H.M.S. Dolphin, December 1914 to March 1919 (Paid War Gratuity). One of approximately 80 Gambia clasps to the Royal Navy.
