On 25th September 2014, Spink London will offer a range of exceptional British philately from the reigns of Queen Victoria, King Edward VII and King George V, specifically selected from the Vestey Collection and sold by order of the Trustees.

Opening with an outstanding selection of important items from Queen Victoria, Spink will offer the famous 1840 2d. Bisect with both halves of the same stamp, one on its original cover and the other on a separate piece. With only 5 examples of this rare Bisect, and only two being on cover, this is an incredibly rare opportunity to acquire both halves of this highly sought after piece. (Lot 4, estimated £80,000)

Amongst the other select pieces on offer is a session of King Edward VII, featuring a very fine example of the very rare 2d. Tyrian Plum. Due to the death of King Edward on 6th May 1910, it was decided not to proceed with this issue, so stocks of the 2d. Tyrian Plum were destroyed with only few surviving from the official records.
