Other highlights include Lot 502, a famous cover and a unique usage of the 1840 Two Pence Blue, on an entire letter from Funchal, Madeira, dated 1840. It is addressed to Devonshire and cancelled by a Deal Ship Letter postmark. Today at Spink it went for an impressive £19,200.

Among the highlights of the latter part of the sale was Lot 1169, an extremely rare Office of Works - 10d. dull purple and carmine, large part original gum, which fetched £18,000.
