ColombiaIncoming MailBremen, German State. 1862, Sept. 29. Cover to Bogotá (Samper correspondence), being prepaid to the port of Cartagena, struck on dispatch with framed Bremen datestamp and "Franco" straight-line, with manuscript indications including "2" blue crayon as per double weight and "2/8" (2 shillings 8 pence, up to ½ oz), handstamped in transit in London, conveyed by the "Seine" (Southampton-St. Thomas) and "Solent" (St. Thomas-Cartagena) British packets. Internally charged on arrival with "20" centavos marking, coincident with the double rate, additionally struck at Cartagena with "De Ultramar" rectangle and "Cartagena./Debe." oval. An exceedingly scarce mail from Bremen.
