Brazil1844, 90r. black, early impression, vertical pair showing types I & II with large margins all around, upper adhesive with two spectacular pre-printing paper folds, this being a unique feature on cover, tied on arrival by "Correio Geral Da Corte" cds on reverse of folded letter carried by British packet from Bahia (docket inside "Bahia 12 Dec 1845/ Jezler & Ca.") to Rio de Janeiro. An impressive showpiece with just about ten covers recorded, of which this is unique as an exceptional example of internal mail being forwarded through the British P.O. at Rio de Janeiro.
