Great Britain1856, Sept. 4. Large envelope (upper back flap missing) from the Spanish Consulate in London to the Commerce Court in Havana, with splendid strike of the Consulate's cachet at bottom left, dispatched in Throgmorton Street with corresponding straight-line in blue and rhomboid datestamp at left, carried by American packet after paying "4/10" 4 shillings 10 pence, with endorsement at lower right in Spanish stating that the rate was paid with funds of the court. "NE" marking of the "Empresa" and "8" reales rate handstamp. Usual aging not detracting. Very interesting and rare.
