German StatesBremen1837, Aug. 9. Entire letter from Bremerhaven to Havana, conveyed by the Spanish "Virgen de Gracia" ship with additional endorsement indicating its captain "Capt. Cardoña", struck on arrival with "8" due marking and "NE" handstamp with "N" inverted (P.E. 60). Cover splitting along one edge and the usually found toning. Mansucript notation "care of Mr. H. Rottmann" denoting involvement of forwarding agent. A very rare destination in this early period, in addition bearing a rare marking of the Cuban "Empresa de Correos Marítimos".
