ChileIncoming Mail1795 circa. Front of large wrapper sent as official correspondence with "Por el Rey" heading with contents originating from Madrid, re-addressed with "Virrey" (viceroy) endorsement from Lima to Concepción, to be forwarded to the Commander of the Veteran Troops and the Militia in the Province of Chiloé, initially rated "44" (11 ounces), this being crossed out and re-rated at "72¾" reales, bearing "Lima" straight-line and "Concepcion/De Chile" two-line handstamps, both applied in red. Carried by the "Ceres" frigate from Callao to Concepción. A very rare and early re-addressed incoming mail.
