1917-22 Italian Post OfficesPeking1917, 40c. on 1l. brown and green, hand surcharge, a fine example, attractively well centred for this stamp, together with second issue 5c., both used on 1 December 1917 registered, express envelope (part of addressee's panel cut out) from the Italian Legation (handstamp on reverse) to Rome, both tied by "R.R. Poste Italiane/Pechino-Cina"c.d.s., repeated at base, showing framed handstamp stating censorship exemption alongside, backstamped on arrival. The only cover recorded bearing this extremely rare value, of considerable significance as it represents the highest first-issue denomination. One of the greates gems of the Italian P.O.'s in China.
