BulgariaAirmails1926, September-October, First Bulgarian Airmails. Postcard from Bohusovice (Czechoslovakia) to Varna, correctly franked at the external rate on dispatch with 50h. and 1kr., tied by "Bohusovice n.Ohri/1.X.16/C.S.P." c.d.s., carried from Sofia to Varna via Bulgarian airmail, alongside showing purple "Airmail/1926" in Cyrillic circle handstamp with Arms and 4 October datestamp of Varna on arrival. (As an additional documentation to this item: two original photographic aeronautical postcards, one displaying the airplane and group of pilots which have completed the Sofia-Varna flights). The only recorded cover originating from a foreign country and transported with the 1926 "trial" first airmails of Bulgaria and, of even more significance, the only non-philatelic item known carried by this means of transport in the inaugural 1926 airmails. This item proves that: not only philatelic covers were carried, the 1926 airmails also involved incoming mail from abroad, and a real transport with airplane was executed. These comments clearly confirms the immense significance of this gem of Bulgarian philately. Cert. Hitzler. Photo
