1827, August 1. Entire letter from Geneva to Evian (then in Kingdom of Sardinia), exhibiting -strong- 15 centesimi "Cavallino" embossing (Sassone 4), accepted on dispatch, which paid the portion of the journey in Sardinian territory. An extraordinary and unique rarity which, to our knowledge, is the only known example of a forerunner usage in Switzerland prior to the issue of the first postage stamps, further enhanced by being the only recorded "Cavallino" used abroad.
