1867, July 23. Cover from St. Petersburg to Calcutta (India), bearing 1866 1k. black and yellow (2) and 10k. reddish brown and blue (4), tied by c.d.s.'s on dispatch, carried via Prussia following transmission by British packet to destination, with red Eydkuhnen-Bromberg "Franco c.d.s. and red crayon "9" Sgr. credited to Prussia, with red "London/Paid" c.d.s. also tying the franking, and "1d" British packet rate, backstamped in Bombay and Calcutta. Letter with side flaps lacking and small portions of paper missing on front, with paper being added to improve appearance. One of the most desirable outgoing mails of Imperial Russia, with only three covers recorded in the classic period to this destination -all being carried through different routes-. SC 17, 20.
