1856-64, "Suns" Issues. An outstanding assembly comprising more than 150 stamps used and unused and 7 covers, starting with "Diligencias" with unused 80c.; "Block" type including 120c. used, 180c. with one used and unused examples incl. one interesting subtype, 240c. with five unused examples; a comprehensive selection of "thin" & "thick" figures with some marginal copies, the "thin figures" highest denominations used with duplicates, "thick" 180c. mint; multiples with "thin" 180c. in unused block of 18 from the left of the sheet, 60c. (Ciardi 13) in mint block of three, "thick" 100c. used pair and 120c. unused pair with complete margin of the sheet; better cancels with red Montevideo oval, blue "scarab" of Salto, infrequent "Renta de Correos/Salto" c.d.s. on part cover, Maldonado in orange-red, Fray Bentos, Soriano, etc.; partial reconstruction of "thin" 80c. transfer block, "thick" 120c. complete transfer block reconstruction. The postal history includes 240c. on cover to Buenos Aires (probably one further adhesive missing), "thick" figures 60c. on dated entire letter with rare double oval of Carmelo, and other very fine single frankings. A highly attractive lot in mainly good condition, with viewing being recommended.
