Cornelius Vanderbilt acquired in 1863 a substantial interest in the Hudson River Railroad and consolidated it with the New York Central in 1869 to form the New York Central & Hudson River Railroad. 1914 it changed its name into New York Central Railroad. This certificate bears the very rare signature of Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877). EF.
