1866, 5c. on 12c. blue, type 5, a splendid copy graced by outstandingly large margins all around, tied by Mercedes double oval handstamp on cover to Buenos Aires carried at single rate up to 4 ''adarmes''. This very short-lived issue was only on sale for ten days from 1st to 10th January 1866, but rare instances are recorded of these surcharged values used later in 1866. One of less than ten covers or cover fronts in existence with this value, this being further enhanced by exhibiting an uncommon cancellation. Signed Kneitschel. Ciardi 24.
