1845, 60r. black, greyish paper, worn impression, type II, a large margined pair sealing back flap of entire letter from Campos to Chambry (France), tied by indistinct oval handstamp in red, also tied in transit at Rio de Janeiro by red ''Correio Geral Da Corte'' datestamp, where the letter was transferred to the British Post Office for onward maritime transmission with the application of British ''Rio Janeiro/De 16/1850'' double arc, then carried on the British ''Linnet'' steamer and conveyed to Falmouth arriving on 2nd February 1851. British cds and ''Colonies/&c.Art.13'' transit marking, the latter applied according to the French-British Convention, with French transit and arrival, as well as ''15'' décimes marking per 7 1/2 gr. to be paid by the addressee. Pair torn on opening, as usual, and repaired. One of only four covers recorded in the ''Inclinados'' issue addressed to a transatlantic destination, of which three were carried through the British P.O. at Rio de Janeiro, with just six covers known addressed to a foreign destination.
