He arrived in the region of Almaden in the south of Spain, where he found many quicksilver mines once operated by the famous Fuggers. They had been abandoned a long time ago due to flooding problems and poor results. Between 1768 and 1774, Hoppensack tried to reactivate these mines. Superb copper engraving on laid paper.
