Concession & Exploitation des Mines de Fer de l'Isle d'Elbe. Action F 1'000. Issued in the year 11 after the (French) Revolution (1803). Paris, 14. Messidor an 11 = 3.7.1803. Nr. 48. Already in the age of the Etruscans (800-100 B.C.) there were iron mines operating on island of Elba. This company was founded in 1803 by Alexandre Boury. Eleven years later, on 4 May 1814, Napoleon I was sent into exile on the island. He was now the ruler of an island with 10'000 inhabitants and an army of 1'000 men. Encouraged by messages of widespread dissatisfaction in France after the restoration of Louis XVIII, he returned on 1 March 1815 from his exile. In recent decades, the state mining company ITALSIDER has continued mining activities on the island. The share has been issued to the company's president, Alexander Boury, and signed by him in the original. Copperplate on vat paper. Rare. EF.
