Crédit Lyonnais. Action F 500, Lyon, 28.04.1879 Unissued. Important french bank, founded in 1863 in Lyon by Henri Germain together with serveral famous financial partners including Arlès-Dufour, Enfantin, Talabot, Chevalier and Eugène II Schneider. In 1872, it became a Société Anonyme. From 1878 until the takeover by Crédit Agricole in 2003, the Crédit Lyonnais, alongside with BNP and SG, was one of the three biggest banks in France. This certificate is the earliest known certificate of this bank. It was issued 1879 to finance the first increase in capital of the bank from F 75 Mio. to F 100 Mio. that enabled the CL to become the biggest bank in France. (www.lcl.com). Rare. VF.
