Fabbrica Edoardo Bianchi. Società Bianchi Camions Automobili - Brescia. Azione 5 da 25 L., Milano, 20 Aprile 1906. Nr. 0893/2461-2465. EF. Founded in 1885 in Milano by Edoardo Bianchi. It began as a small workshop for the construction and repair of cycles. The Company soon expanded into the area of motor vehicles with the production of cars and motorcycles under the name of Fabbrica Automobili Velocipedi and Edoardo Bianchi. In 1906, Bianchi also founded the “Società Bianchi Camions Automobili-Brescia” for the production of trucks. This Company however was not a success. It only existed for three years. In 1914 Bianchi produced 45,000 bicycles, 1,500 motorcycles and 1,000 cars. The Company concentrated on racing cycles and motorcycling. Remarkable was also the construction of vehicles for military use during World War II. After the war Bianchi contributed to the reconstruction and the motorization of Italy with Bianchina (125 ccm) and Aquilotto (a small auxiliary engine to be applied on bicycles). The construction of the four wheels was sold to Fiat and Pirelli in 1958. Today Bianchi is one of the most prestigious brands in the production of racing bikes.
