British Post Offices in Colombia. A magnificent balance of the renowned Malcolm Bentley collection comprising 54 covers, with Carthagena including the scarce ´´fleuron´´ handstamp, 1s. rates paid with 1s. or 6d. (2) adhesives, infrequent use of the ´´Carthagena´´ single ring cds; Panama with double arc without date on unusual mail from a warship, ´´Paid/At/Panama´´ crowned circle on cover from U.S.A. to Chile, 1s. single and 2s. double rates paid by three different examples of frankings including four 1874 6d., a rare usage of the ´´British  Packet Agency/Panama´´ cds; Santa Martha and Savanilla including five covers, the latter agency with the unusual single ring cds´s. A final section is dedicated to the mail from abroad forwarded through the British P.O.´s in Colombia, with mail originating from Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru and Salvador, including better items such as the British Cobija single ring cds in blue. The lot also includes one 1876 8d. orange example cancelled by ´´Panama-Transit/C35´´ duplex obliteration, being very probably unique. A very difficult to find assembly, which would form an excellent basis to be expanded, in generally very fine condition. Starting Price US$ 4,000
