Cover (side flaps missing) from Rio Grande do Sul to Prato (Italy), unpaid on dispatch with red Brazilian ´´Insuficiente´´ oval, with backstamps including blue ´´Rio-De-Janeiro´´ French type cds as well as Italian Alessandria and Florence cds´s. The letter was considered as insufficiently paid on arrival as per prerogative provided by the Art. 5 of the Postal Convention between Brazil and Italy, being initially charged with 9d., and amended to 2d.; as this mail originated from a province settler, it was probably only charged with 20 centesimi postage dues.
