1870, Jan 25. Envelope (opened for display) from Porto Alegre to Meta (Italy), conveyed by the PSNC "Araucaria", bearing 1866 20r. and 200r. pair on back, tied by "sun" cancel with matching Porto Alegre French-type cds at top, blue Rio transit, red framed "P.P.", "F. 57" accountancy marking and "12" due marking which crossed out and amended to "24" in manuscript as a result of a misinterpretation of the Brazil-Italy Convention. Charged on arrival with postage due 40c. strip of three, overlapping the lower edge. Some soiling and closed tear at top. A rare mixed franking of great visual-appeal. RHM 24, 28.
