"The severe frost that hit Burgundy in 2016 was the worst the region had experienced in decades. As a result, none of the seven producers who typically make individual Montrachet grand cru wines had sufficient grapes to do so for the 2016 vintage.

Instead, the collective 2016 harvests from these producers were aged for 18 months at Domaine Leflaive, using a combination of one new barrel and one barrel that was a year old.

The total yield from the 822 kilos of grapes harvested amounted to no more than 683 bottles, which were bottled in late May."
