Aroma-Deep, complex and highly aromatic, with a vibrant nose-feel. The top-notes are old sherry and sandalwood, backed by almond-scented hand cream and tropical fruit, on a base of soft fudge.

Taste-At natural strength, the texture is very smooth and palate-coating. The taste is sweet and spicy to start, drying into a long, warming finish and leaving an aftertaste of rose petals and Virginia tobacco, slightly mouth-cooling.

Comment-Surprisingly vibrant for so old a whisky, and surprisingly fragrant throughout, with changing layers of aroma. Only by long-ageing in the cask can such multilayered complexity be achieved.
