1898 (31 May) card to Australia, uprated with C.I.P. ½c. (2) and 1c. with C.I.P. 1c. cancelled by Nanking Dollar dater with Shanghai Dollar dater alongside; with Japan Koban 2s. pair tied by “shanghai/i.j.p.o.” c.d.s.; routed via the British Post Office through Hong Kong (10.6) and with large “T” applied in a red-brown shade. No amount of postage due indicated. An interesting card incorrectly passed to the Japanese Post Office then transferred to the British Post Office, which handled the mail to Australia. Photo
