1849 (20 Jan.) entire letter to Gibraltar with "1/10" rate mark in black ink paying the British packet rate; the reverse bearing Hong Kong type 9 c.d.s. (29.1) and annotated as received 24th March, carried on the P&O 'Pekin' which left Hong KOng on 30th January. The contents refer to Canton during the winter, "... business here has been extremely dull for the last few months and is not likely to improve until after the festivities of the China new year..."
