32mm Singapore to Hong Kong, Webb type 4a (Kirk type 5, Proud D17): 1901 (6 Feb.) India ½a. postal stationery envelope to Shanghai, uprated ½a. cancelled by Calcutta c.d.s., underpaid and with large "T" in circle, manuscript "15 cent" in red ink and Shanghai arrival c.d.s. (6.3) plis large manuscript "12" in blue crayon; the reverse with a fine strike of colombo transit c.d.s. (14.2) and a light strike of the large "singapore/to hong kong" marine sorter. Webb RRR and one of five recorded. the only one to Shanghai. A key item of Hong Kong sorter mail

This Marine Sorter was used on P.&O. 'Plassy' during its trip from Singapore to Hong Kong of 24th February 1901 only
