1843 (21 Feb.) entire letter from Turner & Co. to John Gladstone in Liverpool, rated "2/8" and with "india" in large oval, the reverse with a faint strike of Richie Stewart & Co. forwarding cachet,, London transit (7.5) and Liverpool arrival datestamp (9.5); there is a heavy vertical filing crease and some soiling. The contents note the buoyant trade in cotton but quiet for tea. Carried privately to Calcutta. Photo
