1947 (Mar.) three envelopes to U.S.A. with (5 Mar.) envelope express registered to St. Louis bearing, on the reverse, $2700 franking tied by Shanghai c.d.s.; pays surface $300, double air of $650, registration $450 and express $650; (7 Mar) envelope to Massachusetts bearing $1600 franking tied by Shanghai c.d.s., paying double air. (17 Mar.) long envelope to New York bearing $1750 franking tied by Shanghai c.d.s. The rates changed on 1st March, although the air fee remained the same, surface, registration and express were significantly increased. A good pair of covers paying the old rates. The new rate was only employed for nine days before the air rate was also increased. Rate 3.1.4. (3 covers)
