China: Ming Dynasty Rebels, Da Shun Tong Bao, group of 11x 1 cash coins, normal type (3), rev: 'Hu' lower quadrant (1) and rev: 'Gong' lower quadrant (7), the first 4 coins graded Zhong Qian 82, 82, 82 and 80 respectively, the last 7 coins raw very good to very fine. Da Shun Tong Bao coins were issued by Zhang Xian Zhong (1606-1647), leader of various peasant revolts from around 1630. He reached the peak of his power in 1644 when he took Chengdu in September 1644 and named himself King fo the Da Xi Dynasty and declared himself Emperor Da Shun the following month. Resistance to his rule continued and he mounted a reign of terror in Sichuan from 1645-1646. He finally decided to abandon Sichuan in October 1646 and tried to head back to his homeland of Shaanxi but was killed by Qing forces in Xi Chong County in January 1647. His adopted sons, including Sun Ke Wang and Li Ding Guo, would continue to fight against Qing forces in the years to come. Dr. Werner Burger Collection. (11) [296-288]


明朝起義軍通寶小平錢一組11枚,包括:光背3枚;背下戶1枚;背下工3一枚;光背版中乾皆評82,背下戶版中乾評80,其他約G至VF品相。 1644年,張獻忠攻入四川,以成都為都城,建立大西國(1644-1646),改元大順,並鑄大順通寶。立國以後,大西政權一直與四川各地的明朝將領、四川的地主武裝、南明政權和清朝作鬥爭,於1646年北上陝西抗擊清軍時被清兵突擊中箭去世。其義子孫可望繼任大西軍政權最高領袖後入主雲南,也鑄造有大順通寶,所見皆為背工版。
