China: Ming Dynasty Rebels, Yong Chang Tong Bao, (1628–1644), group of 7 coins, 1 cash (6), one weighs 3.7g, 5 cash, 38.3x1.9mm, 11.3g, one of the 1 cash graded Zhong Qian 82, the rest fine to very fine. The 5 cash Zhong Qian Genuine. Yong Chang Tong Bao coins were issued by the famous Ming rebel, Li Zi Cheng (1606-1645). He joined the peasant revolts originating from Northern China from 1628 and quickly became one of the main leaders with popular policies such as 'dividing land equally and abolishing the grain tax system'. His peak achievement came in April 1644 when he breached Beijing's defences, causing the Chong Zhen Emperor to commit suicide and proclaimed himself as Emperor of Da Shun (Great Shun) with the era name of Yong Chang. Li was defeated by Wu San Gui and Dorgon at the Battle of Shan Hai Guan in May 1644 and Beijiing fell into Qing hands in June that year. Accounts of Li's death is still unclear to this very day. 明朝起義軍永昌通寶一組7枚,包括:小平錢6枚,其中1枚重3.7克,中乾評82,其他F至VF品相;折五錢1枚,38.3x1.9mm,重11.3g克,中乾評真品。 永昌通寶是明末農民起義軍首領李自成建立大順政權後於永昌年間(1644年 -1645年)鑄造。當時中原瘟疫肆虐、饑荒嚴重、社會階級矛盾極度尖鋭,各地紛紛起義,李自成的將領李巖提出“均田免賦”等口號,獲得廣大人民的歡迎,部隊發展到百萬之眾,成為起義軍中的主力。1644年,李自成攻陷北京,推翻明王朝,建立大順政權。山海關總兵吳三桂引多爾袞的八旗軍入關聯合擊敗大順軍,於同年5月攻克北京,大順正式走向衰亡。
