North Borneo, Brunei and Sarawak Currency Board, $10, archival photograph model, Thomas de la Rue proposed design with Queen Elizabeth portrait, dated by de la Rue 25 July 1957, With the independence of Malaya on 31 August 1957 the British colonies of North Borneo, Sarawak, and Brunei prepared for their future. Accordingly it would appear that a distinct currency board would be set up to serve the needs of British Borneo. However, the Malaya and British Borneo Currency Board continued its operations until 1967, and the planned currency board for British Borneo was not enacted.

The notes offered below are wonderful survivors of this period of regional history.
