India: 1860 (19 May) entire letter from Bombay to Hong Kong "pr 'Launcefeild'", addressed to the captain of the ship 'Edward' care of the American consul. Bears India 4a. black tied by manuscript "Stamped" and "1" in octagonal cancellation with large ink manuscript "8" alongside, the reverse with the company oval, Calcutta Ship Letter boxed datestamp and Hong Kong arrival c.d.s. (7.6) and local delivery characters applied in ink. The contents refer to the cost of shipping goods to the U.S.A. Quite a heavy vertical folding crease, otherwise a fine and attractive cover. Photo
