1887 (21 Oct.) opened-out blue envelope from the U.S. Consulate registered to South Carolina bearing pair of 10c. cancelled by pen crosses and showing a light strike of straight-line "registered" in box struck in red, the reverse with a very fine strike of the type III "u.s. postal agency/shanghai" dated oval struck in purple and with San Francisco registered datestamp (17.11) alongside; some light soiling.
