1897 New Currency Surcharges
Small Dragons, Large Figures
5c. on 5ca. olive-yellow, a complete sheet of forty from setting IV with sheet margins on three sides (the sheet margin at foot was removed for surcharging), with full original gum. This sheet shows the distinctive positional varieties including the catalogued varieties of rounded corner (2b) left pane [16] and break in top left corner square (1) as well as broken character yin left pane [20], rounded top right corner (3) right pane [12].

There is some light gum ageing as usual and a couple of light tone marks; well centred and in a good state of preservation. A very scarce sheet, it is estimated that there may only be five complete sheets exiting. Chan 36; S.G. 68. Photo
