The Mercantile Bank of India, $5, 1.7.1936, serial number 143686, green on yellow and orange underprint, sampan, houses and bridge near lakeside at centre, reverse purple and black, Mercury with winged helmet at centre, a handsome handsigned signature at lower left, (Pick 235c), PMG 53 About Uncirculated (Repaired). A lovely early dated note with repairs to a small tear on the upper border. The single second highest grade for this year with only one note higher at 55
