People's Bank of China, a group of printer's models/artist renditions for a series of emergency 'Wartime Preparation' banknotes, 1970-71, 1 - uniface obverse, 1971, IV VIII IV, blue and brown, three soldiers with machine guns and grenade, Chinese title 'Increase Awareness for the Protection of Motherland', 1 jiao - uniface obverse plus two reverses, 1970, X I II, brown on light blue, soliders with machine gun, Red Book and sheaf of wheat at right, the reverse in similar colours and with slightly different designs to each other 5 jiao - uniface obverse and reverse, 1970, III V III, green, soliders with machine guns riding on horses, 1 yuan - uniface obverse and reverse, 1970, X I II 0051203, dark red, soldiers with hand grenades and rocket launcher, 5 yuan - uniface obverse and reverse, 1970, X I II, dark blue, soldiers with machine guns and Red Book, fighter jets in the background, reverse in similar colours, steam locomotive, 10 yuan - uniface obverse and reverse, 1970, III V III, red, victorious soldiers surrounded by cheering crowd at centre, (Pick not listed), each denomination mounted on the same card and slabbed by PMG 'Artist's Renditions' without a grading score. These are prototypes of a series of emergency banknotes produced by the People's Bank of China in the early 1970's in preparation for war with the Soviet Union. Banknotes were eventually printed but never issued and destroyed over ten years ago. Since the files relating to this event is still classified it will be years before we know the full facts. Unique and very important historically (6 denominations)
1970-71年中國人民銀行「備戰」系列未發行鈔票手繪設計稿一組，包含6款設計 1971年壹圓正面，編號IV VIII IV，印有「提高警惕保衛祖國」標題，右下「備戰」二字，中央以三名軍人持機關槍及預備丟手榴彈為主題 1970年1角，啡色，正面1枚及背面2枚，編號X I II，正面以持槍軍人站於較前，女戰士手抱禾稻站傍邊，背後中央軍人手舉紅皮書，呈三角形之勢，遠方背景為發電站及工廠。2款1角的背面設計略有不同 1970年五角，綠色，正面及背面各1枚，編號III V III，正面以背著步槍的騎兵為主題 1970年壹圓，紫紅色，正面及背面各1枚，編號X I II 0051203，正面繪畫兩名軍人正在丟手榴彈及發射火箭炮 1970年5元，藍色，正面及背面各1枚，編號X I II，1角票設計構圖差不多，唯這枚的三名男女軍人皆持步槍，中央較高軍人高舉「毛主席語錄」 1970年10元，紅色，正面及背面各1枚，編號III V III，圖案為一眾軍人舉手歡呼，象徵勝利之意 各面值的正反面設計均貼於同一紙卡，並入PMG封套，無評分。本組戰備票設計概念源於1969年中蘇邊界衝突，戰爭一觸即發，中央擔心敵人乘機擾亂國家經濟，要求人民銀行作出準備，故有這套標明「備戰」為題的新版鈔票設計產生。這套鈔票設計全部手繪，繪描精細，內容貼切，十分精彩。幸好兩國衝突後來平息下來，這套「備戰」的發行被擱置了，所有相關資料陸續遭秘密銷毀。現時相關資訊有待發掘，相信日後將有更豐富的史料可供佐證。這套設計手稿絕無僅有，珍貴無比，是研究新中國貨幣史極為重要的一組實物資料，加上其繪畫藝術超卓，定當引起哄動及關注。
