1896 (1 May) envelope to New York, U.S.A. via Shanghai Local Post (5.5), Yokohama (14.5) and Tacoma (28.5), bearing 1895 1c. cancelled by "Postal Service Foochow/China" c.d.s., in combination with Japan Koban 5s. cancelled by "Shanghai I.J.P.O." c.d.s. (8.5), and slightly unclear arrival c.d.s., opening tears at top and right, with the Local Post 1c. paying the domestic postage to Shanghai and Japan 5s. paying the special reduced rate to the U.S.A. through the Japanese Post Office.
